Cork bark
The material cork consists of the bark of the cork oak. The bark is harvested every nine years and can be harvested up to 20 times during a cork oak’s lifetime without harming the tree.
I have chosen to look at and experiment with cork as a material due to its many properties, long history and sustainable production. My examination has a strong focus on making and finding new areas of use for cork.
Materialet kork är korkekens bark. Korkeken skördas på sin bark vart nionde år och kan skördas upp till 20 gånger under sin livstid, utan att trädet tar skada.
Jag har valt att undersöka och experimentera med materialet kork på grund av dess många olika egenskaper, långa historia och hållbara framställning. Mitt undersökande har ett starkt fokus på görandet och att hitta nya användningsområden för korken.
